Box Score After splitting the first two games of the weekend Saturday, the Centre College baseball team fell 11-1 to Hendrix College Sunday, March 9 in Conway, Ark.
The Colonels fall to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the SAA, while Hendrix improves to 7-7 overall and 4-2 in league play.
The Warriors scored a run in the home half of the first and then added two in the third and three in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead, and chase sophomore starting pitcher Stephen Shunk (Lexington, Ky.) from the game.
With the bases loaded in the top of the fifth, junior Trey Litsey (Louisville, Ky.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score sophomore Jake Johnson (Louisville, Ky.), but it would be the only run of the day for Centre, as Hendrix scored two more in the sixth and three in the seventh for the final 11-1 tally.
Shunk took the loss and falls to 0-3 on the season after allowing six runs on nine hits in four innings of work.
The Colonels had only four hits on the day by four different players.
Centre will step out of conference play Tuesday, March 11 to host Transylvania University. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Ky.
