Box Score After splitting Saturday's SAA doubleheader, the Centre College baseball team fell 11-1 in the final game of the series to No. 11 Birmingham Southern Sunday, April 13 in Birmingham, Ala.
With the defeat, the Colonels fall to 12-19 overall and 6-10 in the SAA, while the Panthers improve to 27-9 overall and 15-3 in league action.
Birmingham Southern wasted little time putting runs on the board with a single tally in the first and three more in the second for an early 4-0 lead.
Centre scored it's lone run of the game in the third when sophomore Zach Montgomery (Louisville, Ky.) stole home to cut the lead to 4-1.
The two teams went scoreless in the fourth, but the Panthers added four more in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh to finish with the 11-1 victory.
Sophomore Stephen Shunk (Lexington, Ky.) got the loss. He allowed eight runs - five earned - over five innings of work. Montgomery and sophomore Jake Johnson (Louisville, Ky.) had two hits apiece to account for four of the team's seven hits.
The Colonels are scheduled to host the University of the Cumberlands Tuesday, April 15, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. in Danville, Ky.
