The Centre women's tennis team was in dominant form in Thursday's match, pulling off a 9-0 sweep over Division II opponent Alderson Broaddus.
The Colonels rolled through doubles play with Kathryn Hays (Lexington, Ky.) and Molly McElvogue (Phoenix, Ariz.) winning 8-2 in the No. 1 match and Kate Tomey (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Abby Tudor (Richmond, Ky.) picking up an 8-4 victory in No. 2. In the No. 3 doubles match, Maddie Pitt (Louisville, Ky.) and Casey Blair won 8-0, one of four matches in which Centre shut out its opponent.
In singles competition, Centre took all six matches in straight sets with Pitt, Katie Howard (Frankfort, Ky.) and McElvogue all winning 6-0, 6-0 in their matches. Other singles winners were Hays, a 6-0, 6-3 winner in the No. 1 match, Tomey, who won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2, and Courtney Delong (Louisville, Ky.), who won 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 4 match.
With the victory, Centre improves to 6-10 on the season. The Colonels wrap up the regular season with home matches against Brescia on Friday and Berea on Saturday.
