The Centre men's tennis team defeated Brescia 6-3 in a nonconference match on Friday in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels took a lead by winning two of the three doubles matches, then won four of the six singles matches to seal the victory.
Woody Rini (Richmond, Ky.) and Logan Henize (Cincinnati, Ohio) were winners in both doubles and singles for Centre. The duo picked up an 8-3 win in the No. 1 doubles match, then in singles play, Rini was a 6-4, 6-3 winner in the No. 1 match and Henize a 7-5, 6-2 winner in No. 2.
Also winning for Centre was the team of Alex Wermeling (Lexington, Ky.) and Caleb Smith (Morristown, Tenn.), who won 9-8 in the No. 2 match for Centre's other doubles victory. The other two singles wins came from Lucas Brooks (Pineville, Ky.), a 6-1, 6-0 winner in the No 4 match, and Carter Richardson (Fort Mitchell, Ky.), who pulled out a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 6 match.
With the win, Centre improves to 4-13 on the season while Brescia falls to 5-10. The Colonels wrap up regular season competition when they host Rose-Hulman on Tuesday.
