The Centre men's tennis team picked up its second victory in a row, sweeping Berea 9-0 in a match Wednesday in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels took an early lead by cruising to wins in all three singles matches. Lucas Brooks (Pineville, Ky.) and Carter Richardson (Fort Mitchell, Ky.) won by the widest margin, taking the No. 3 match 8-1.
Centre took that momentum into singles play, where it was victorious in straight sets in all six matches. Henize was a 6-1, 6-1 winner in the No. 1 match while Wermeling picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win in No. 2. Brooks won the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-4 while Caleb Smith (Morristown, Tenn.) took the No. 4 match 6-3, 6-4. Forrest Kamperman (Miesenbach, Germany) pulled out the No. 5 match 7-6, 7-5 with Daniel Miller winning 6-1, 6-3 in No. 6.
With the win, Centre improves to 3-10 on the year while Berea drops to 2-4. The Colonels return to Southern Athletic play this weekend when they host Millsaps on Saturday and Birmingham-Southern on Sunday.
