Box Score Playing in a torrential downpour, the Centre women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 1-0 to Carleton on Sunday in Danville, Ky.
Though the heavy rains saturated the pitch, Centre was able to create chances in the game. Centre took 11 shots to Carleton's five and held a 9-0 edge in corners, but the Colonels were unable to break through.
The game-winner came in the 29th minute when Carleton's Connor Kasch scored off a cross for the only goal of the day. The loss is the first time the Colonels have been shut out since a scoreless draw with Rose-Hulman on Sept. 22, 2013.
Olivia Alford (Louisville, Ky.) made four saves in goal for the Colonels while Mikayla Coulombe had two stops for Carleton. Centre's Destinie Graves (Lexington, Ky.) led all players with three shots in the game.
With the result, both teams move to 1-1 on the season. Centre begins a stretch of five consecutive road games with a trip to DePauw on Saturday.
