The Centre women's basketball team made the trip to Conway, Ark. to play its second of two weekend road games, this time against the Hendrix Warriors. The Warriors used late free throw shooting and balanced scoring to defeat the Colonels, 70-61.

Alexis Guy (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) led all scorers with 24 points on 9-19 shooting. Michele Judy (Crittenden, Ky.) added 13 points and led the Colonels with eight rebounds on the day. Two of the main difference makers in the game were three-pointers and free throws, as Hendrix made four more shots from beyond the arc than the Colonels and 11 more free throws. Sara Dyslin led four Hendrix players in double figures with 21 points and pulled down a game high 16 rebounds.

Centre played well to start the game, gradually building a lead that reached as high as six points as Maggie Hartlage (Louisville, Ky.) found Michele Judy for a layup that made it 19-13. The Warriors fought back to take a 34-30 lead at the half as Hendrix's final three baskets of the half were all three-pointers.

The Colonels scored on their first four offensive possessions of the second half, taking a 37-36 lead when Olivia Colliver (Mount Sterling, Ky.) found Paige Kellam (Hebron, Ky.) for a jumper. But the Colonels would go cold from there, scoring only five points over the next seven minutes while Hendrix extended the lead to seven points. Baskets by Judy and Kellam would cut the Warriors' lead to three points on separate occasions late in the second half, but Hendrix had the answers every time got down to one possession, scoring their final seven points from the free throw line to seal the victory.

The Centre women's basketball team will be back at home next week with a pair of games in Alumni Gym against the Berry Vikings and the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels.
