The Centre women's tennis team opened its 2015 schedule with an 8-1 loss to Southeastern University (Fla.) on Thursday in Orlando, Fla.
The Colonels held their own in doubles play before dropping all six singles matches. Centre's lone victory came in the No. 3 doubles match, where Abby Tudor (Richmond, Ky.) and Kimberly Randall (Johns Creek, Ga.) were 8-6 winners over Southeastern's Mason Bellar and Madeline Willis.
Centre's No. 1 doubles team of Kate Tomey (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Molly McElvogue (Phoenix, Ariz.) and No. 2 doubles team of Courtney Delong (Louisville, Ky.) and Casey Blair (Louisville, Ky.) were also competitive before dropping their matches by the score of 8-3. Centre lost all six singles matches in straight sets.
The Colonels are back on the court on Sunday when they take on Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla.
