Box Score MOUNT BERRY, Ga. (CentreAthletics.com) – The Centre volleyball team played the second of five consecutive conference road games on Sunday, falling to the Berry Vikings in straight sets.
The first set was the most closely contested of the match as Berry held a small lead for the majority, but had a tough time putting the Colonels away. The Colonels cut the lead to 18-15, but could get no closer, losing by a score of 25-22.
The Vikings used a pair of 5-0 scoring runs to create distance in the second set, eventually winning by a score of 25-17.
The Colonels fell 25-15 in the third set as the Vikings jumped out to a hot start and then put the match away with six straight points late in the set to take the match.
Beth Cecil (Bardstown, Ky.) led Centre with a game-high 11 kills, followed by Abbigale Jacobi (Louisville, Ky.) with six kills. Elizabeth Janszen (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded 20 of Centre's 27 assists in the match. Erin McGrath (Louisville, Ky.) recorded a game-high 21 digs, with Katherine Hagan adding 11 digs.
Centre will conclude its Southern Athletic Association road slate this weekend with games at Sewanee on Thursday, Millsaps on Saturday and Birmingham Southern on Sunday.
