ATLANTA, Ga. (CentreAthletics.com) - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) announced its 2015 All-Conference teams on Friday afternoon and senior outside hitter Beth Cecil (Bardstown, Ky.) and senior setter Elizabeth Janszen (Cincinnati, Ohio) garnered All-SAA recognition. Cecil was named to the first team, while Janszen earned second team honors.
This marks the second straight year in which Cecil has been named first team All-SAA.
She paces the SAA and sits 28th in NCAA Division III with 402 total kills on the year and ranks second in the conference at 3.87 kills per set. The Bardstown native also sits fifth in the league with a .261 hitting percentage on the year.
Cecil has tallied at least 10 kills in 27 of 29 matches this season, including six matches with at least 20 kills.
She also has 297 digs, good for second on the team, to go along with 25 blocks and eight service aces.
Cecil posted a season-high 23 kills in the Colonels' 3-1 victory over Sewanee on Sept. 15. She finished with a season-best hitting percentage of .531 against the same Tigers in a 3-0 triumph on Oct. 15, recording 18 kills, eight digs, a service ace and a block in the win.
Cecil had 10 double-doubles during the season, highlighted by a season-high 18 digs with 21 kills in Centre's matchup with Capital on Sept. 13.
She ranks fourth in school history with 1265 career kills and has recorded a career hitting percentage of .249.
Janszen earns All-SAA recognition for the second consecutive year after being named to the honorable mention all-conference squad a year ago.
She leads the SAA with 1030 total assists and ranks third in the conference with 9.81 assists per set. The Cincinnati, Ohio native is fourth in Centre history with 2,894 career assists.
She has dished out at least 25 assists in 27 of 29 matches this season, including a season-high 54 helpers on two occasions, first in the season opener against Union (Ky.) and then again in a 3-1 win over Sewanee on Sept. 15.
Janszen has also posted 74 kills, 14 service aces, 276 digs and 24 blocks in 2015. She has recorded 11 double-doubles on the year, highlighted by an 18-dig, 47-assist performance in the Colonels' 3-2 victory over Rose-Hulman on Sept. 13.
The Colonels open the SAA Tournament today at 4 p.m. taking on fourth-seeded Millsaps in Conway, Ark. No. 4 seed Centre owns a 16-13 overall record and finished with a 7-7 ledger in conference play. The Colonels enter the SAA Tournament on a five-match winning streak. Centre split its two matchups with the Majors this season.
