After nearly a two-week layoff due to weather, the Centre women's tennis team fell in its return to the court, dropping a match with an 8-1 result Saturday at Division II opponent University of Charleston on Saturday in Charleston, W.V.
Freshman Aliza Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio), who now has a 3-1 season record in singles play, was the Colonels' lone winner on the day, claiming a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Charleston's Kelsey Hensley in the No. 1 singles match.
Centre fell behind in doubles play, where it dropped all three matches by the score of 8-3. In singles competition, all five other players fell in straight sets.
The result brings Centre's record on the year to 1-3, while Charleston improves to 9-3. The Colonels return to the court when they travel to Johnson next Saturday.
