The Centre men's tennis team fell 8-1 in a match with Division II opponent Bellarmine on Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
The lone victory in the match came from the No. 2 doubles team of Woody Rini ( Richmond, Ky.) and Logan Henize (Cincinnati, Ohio), who defeated Bellarmine's Jose Legarreta and Zachary Kuo 8-6.
The Colonels were competitive in all three doubles matches, but came away trailing 2-1 after doubles play. Centre dropped all six singles matches in straight sets. Rini played the most competitive of Centre's singles matches before falling 7-5, 6-3 to Legarreta.
The result brings Centre's regular season record to 0-1 while Bellarmine opens its season at 1-0. The Colonels are back on the court next Saturday when they take on Piedmont in a neutral site match at Sewanee.
