The Centre women's tennis team picked up its fourth straight win and its first against a Southern Athletic Association opponent with a 5-2 victory over Rhodes on Saturday at Eastern Kentucky University's Adams Indoor Tennis Center.
The match was moved from Centre's campus due to concerns about cold weather, but the Colonels still were able to pull out the victory. Aliza Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio) accounted for two of Centre's five victories, teaming up with Kate Tomey (Indianapolis, Ind.) to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-6 and winning her seventh straight singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Rhodes' Amelia McIsaac.
Centre also got a singles win from Kimberly Randall (Johns Creek, Ga.), who came back to defeat Prianka Bose 3-6, 6-1, 11-9 in the No. 5 singles match. The Colonels also won by default in the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles slots.
With the win, Centre's first over Rhodes since 2011, the team improves to 5-3 on the season. Rhodes drops to 6-5. The Colonels are back on the court on Sunday when they host Hendrix at 11 a.m.
