The Centre women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches with a 6-3 victory over Southern Athletic Association opponent Hendrix on Sunday in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels now move to 6-3 on the season after opening the year at 1-3. Additionally, Aliza Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio) won her eighth straight singles match and teamed up with Kate Tomey (Indianapolis, Ind.) to win the duo's fifth straight doubles match.
Centre took the lead during doubles play, when Williams and Tomey won the No. 1 match 8-2, while Casey Blair (Louisville, Ky.) and Kimberly Randall (Johns Creek, Ga.) won 8-4 in the No. 3 match.
Williams was an 8-1 winner in the No. 1 singles match, while Courtney DeLong (Louisville, Ky.) held on for a 9-8 (7-2) win in No. 3. Molly McElvogue (Phoenix, Ariz.) won 8-5 in the No. 4 match, and Mary Chapin Snow (Elizabethtown, Ky.) was an 8-6 winner in No. 6.
The Colonels will look to extend their winning streak when they travel to Brescia on Thursday.
