The Centre baseball team wrapped up its weekend series with an 11-1 loss at No. 10 Birmingham-Southern on Sunday.

The Colonels were held hitless until the fifth inning, when Sullivan Smoak (Knoxville, Tenn.) reached base on an infield single and came home on an infield single by Tanner Sauley (Madison, Ind.). Also picking up base hits on the day for Centre were Andrew Olson (Louisville, Ky.), Ben Coates (Nicholasville, Ky.), and Zach Montgomery (Louisville, Ky.).

The Centre run in the fifth put a minor dent in a lead that the Panthers built by picking up two runs in the second inning, four in the third, another in the fourth, and five in the top of the fifth. 

Stephen Shunk (Lexington, Ky.) was credited with the loss for the Colonels after allowing six runs over 2.1 innings of work. Each team used six pitchers on the day, with Birmingham-Southern's Stephen Himic taking the win after working a scoreless fifth inning. 

Overall, the Panthers move to 11-0 overall on the season and 6-0 in SAA play, while Centre drops to 0-6 overall and 0-6 in the conference. The Colonels return to action with a trip to Transylvania on Wednesday.
