The Centre women's tennis team was edged 5-4 by Southern Athletic Association opponent Millsaps on Sunday in Jackson, Miss.
The difference came in doubles play, where Millsaps took two of the three matches. All three matches were close, but the No. 2 team of Molly McElvogue (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Courtney DeLong (Louisville, Ky.) picked up Centre's only victory, winning 8-6 over the Majors' Rachel Beck and Anna Brache.
The teams split the three singles matches, each team winning three. Centre took the No. 4, 5, and 6 singles matches, with Mary Chapin Snow (Elizabethtown, Ky.) winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in No. 4, Jenna Hazelwood (Lebanon, Tenn.) winning 6-3, 6-3 in No. 5, and Kimberly Randall (Johns Creek, Ga.) winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in No. 6.
Centre falls to 7-6 on the season with the loss, and will begin SAA Tournament play on Friday in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
