CONWAY, Ark. (CentreColonels.com) - The Centre men's tennis team capped the 2016-17 campaign on Friday morning, dropping a 5-1 decision to second-seeded Millsaps in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament at Hendrix College.
The Colonels close the season with a 6-12 ledger, while the Majors, ranked 11th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Regional Rankings, improve to 23-5 and move on to the SAA semifinals.
Centre's lone win on the day was an impressive one, as the No. 1 doubles tandem of freshman Trey Akmon (Louisville, Ky.) and senior Logan Henize (Cincinnati, Ohio) topped David Plummer and Alex Centurion, a doubles duo which came into the match ranked 14th in the country and fifth in the region.
