LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association held its annual awards banquet last week and for the second year in a row, Centre women's cross country took home some postseason hardware as
Courtney Gibson won the association's College Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year and head coach
Lisa Owens earned College Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year honors.
A junior from Catlettsburg, Ky., Gibson repeated as KTCCCA Athlete of the Year after making her second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships. Gibson was an All-SAA Second Team runner in her junior season and finished 18th overall at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Finals to help her team earn the second berth in the NCAA Finals in program history.
Owens earned the 31st Coach of the Year honor of her illustrious career after one of the best seasons in Centre women's cross country history. The Colonels repeated as Southern Athletic Association champions and finished as runners-up at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Finals, punching their ticket to the NCAA Championships in their second ever team appearance.
Owens also coached an All-American in women's cross country for the third consecutive season as senior
Annie Rodenfels finished third at the NCAA Finals for her second straight All-America honor.
