MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Centre women's cross country made history this morning at the Southern Athletic Association Championships as they cruised to their third straight conference title and set a league record with eight All-Conference performers.
The Colonels dominated this year's SAA Championships with all five counted scoring times in the individual top ten. Centre finished with just 29 points for the meet, followed by Berry with 63 points and Rhodes with 70. Sewanee and Millsaps rounded out the top five teams in the field.
Individually, junior Alison Anderson ran away with the race, posting the only time under 23 minutes on the 6k course, finishing in 22:37.10. Anderson earned the SAA Women's Runner of the Year award with her victory, giving Centre four of the last five Runner of the Year awards, with the others belonging to All-Americans Serena Gale-Butto '17 and Annie Rodenfels '19.
Joining Anderson on the All-SAA First Team, sophomore and 2018 SAA Newcomer of the Year Amelia Fogle finished fifth overall with a time of 23:27.73.
Fogle crossing the finish line began a slew of finishers as six of the next eight runners to complete the course were wearing Centre gold and white. Hallie Searcy immediately followed Fogle in sixth place with a time of 23:30.56. Senior Courtney Gibson finished eighth overall in 23:39.68, followed by Camille Mangold in 23:40.87.
Madison Malloy (23:50.80), Margueritte Wheeler (23:52.90) and rookie Kate Williams (24:11.58) were next to cross the finish line, with the first two rounding out Centre's official scoring times and Williams cracking the individual top 15. Olivia Honaker and Amelia Lorrey posted respective times of 24:24.29 and 24:27.58 to each land within the individual top 20 as Centre finished with exactly half of the 20 fastest times in the field.
