Box Score TIPP CITY, Ohio – A three-set contest at No. 3 singles proved the difference in Centre men's tennis' narrow 5-4 defeat at Wittenberg Sunday in the Schroeder Tennis Center.
Wittenberg's Gavin Tay defeated Centre's
Adam Slone, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0, to break a 4-4 tie and clinch the victory. The Tigers improve to 3-1 overall while the Colonels fall to 0-4.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre claimed the match's first point at No. 2 doubles, where
Max Middleton and
Ben Hadlock defeated Kieren Thomas and Nathan Baulch, 8-4.
- Wittenberg took doubles Nos. 1 and 3, however, carrying a 2-1 advantage to singles play.

Danny Nelson earned the Colonels' first singles point at No. 6, defeating Baulch by a wide 6-0, 6-1 margin.

Matthew Bulow then defeated Thomas in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 singles.
- Middleton came in with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Joe Patton at No. 2 singles, squaring the overall match at 4-4 before Tay clinched.
