Box Score ATLANTA –Centre women's tennis faced a perennial Division III goliath Saturday on the road, falling 9-0 against second-ranked Emory.
The Colonels slip to 1-3 overall on the young season, as the defending NCAA runners-up improve to 3-0.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre won three games at No. 1 doubles, as
Neha Rao and
Hannah Doherty fell 8-3 to Daniela Lopez and Emma Cartledge, the nation's 14th-ranked tandem.
- Freshman
Katharine Sherman gained experience at No. 1 singles, meeting Division III's top-ranked individual, Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico. The Emory sophomore won 6-0, 6-1.
- Rao, Doherty,
Abigail Kent and
Caroline Stallings each faced nationally-ranked opponents in the Eagles' stacked lineup, as well.
- Rao was able to take a few games from Lopez at No. 2 singles, but ultimately fell by a 6-3, 6-2 final.
