ANDERSON, Ind. - The Centre men's track and field traveled with a partial squad to Anderson University for the Fred Wilt Invitational. Due to the number of non-collegiate participants in the field, the event was not scored, but the Colonels put on several strong performances, especially in the jumps and hurdles.
The best event of the day for the Centre men was the long jump. Freshman
Mykal Bright finished with the best jump in the field at 21-6.75. Freshman
Aaron Bastian finished third with a mark of 20-1.75, followed immediately by junior
Henry Gunner at 20-0.25.
In the triple jump, Bastian followed his win at DePauw with a third place finish at Anderson and a mark of 41-3. Sophomore
Jake Pfaller finished just behind Bastian at 40-11.5.
Junior
Thomas Burkey had an outstanding overall meet. Burkey finished second overall - but first among collegiate performers - in the high jump after clearing 6-0. He also finished third overall in the 60m hurdles with a lifetime best time of 8.86 that just missed out on a new program record. Gunner and Bright also finished in the top eight in the 60m hurdles.
Sophomore
Andrew Edwards posted a time of 16:05.69 to finish in third place in the men's 5k, second among college runners. Classmate
Noel Dingle also ran what would have been a scoring time, finishing in 16:56.97.
Freshman
Tanner May finished with a time of 7.20 to take fourth place in the 100m.
In the shot put, senior
Hunter Gann finished with a mark of 42-8 to finished in seventh place overall.
