GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Centre men's track and field team kicked off its 2019 season at the DePauw Indoor Invitational. Competing with a partial squad, the Colonels finished seventh out of 13 teams, but began its season with the establishment of a new indoor program record.
Sophomore
Allen Richardson broke Michael Bozarth's 2013 indoor record in the shot put with a mark of 45-7. The throw was good for third place overall and earned the Colonels six of their 34.5 points for the day.
In the long jump, a pair of freshmen stood out for Centre on the men's side as
Mykal Bright finished third with a mark of 20-1, while
Drake Nunnery cleared 19-8 to take third place in the event. The high jump saw junior
Thomas Burkey tie for seventh overall with a clear of 5-10.
Junior
Henry Gunner earned four points for the Centre men in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 9.05.
The men's 4x400m relay squad wrapped up the scoring for the Colonels in their season opener as Burkey teamed with sophomore
Jake Pfaller and freshmen
Aaron Bastian and
Pete Shipley to finish in fourth place with a time of 3:46.01.

Centre track and field will return to DePauw for their next meet, the DePauw Indoor Classic on Feb. 16.
