Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Centre women's tennis blanked Methodist in a neutral site meeting at Christopher Newport Saturday, winning by a 9-0 score.
The Colonels improve to 2-4 overall while the Monarchs fall to 6-6.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre's dominance began in doubles play, where No. 1 duo
Neha Rao and
Hannah Doherty continued their recent success with an 8-3 victory over Allison Hines and Jill Lawrence.
- At No. 2 doubles, Caroline Stalling and
Emily Zelichenok paired up to defeat the Monarchs' Abby Caddick and Bri Rado. Finally, Centre's rookie duo of
Katharine Sherman and
Grace Headley won by an 8-6 score over Taylor Jackson and Abby Siracusa.
- The Colonels would claim all six singles matches in straight sets, led by Zelichenok's pristine 6-0, 6-0 decision against Casey Carroll at No. 6.
- At No. 1, Sherman bested Hines, 6-1, 6-3, and Rao followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Jackson.

Abigail Kent returned to the lineup with a 6-0, 6-1 rout against Lawrence at No. 3 singles.
- Stallings won 6-3, 6-1 against Caddick at No. 4 singles, and Doherty dropped Rado at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1.
