DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre men's track and field team was back in action on Friday evening as they hosted the Centre Twilight meet. The Colonels scored 119.5 points to finish in third place behind Division II Cedarville and NAIA Campbellsville.
Freshman Tanner May continued his strong rookie season in the sprints. May placed fourth in the 100m with a time of 11.34 and then finished third in the 200m with a time of 22.91. In the 4x100m relay, May teamed with Henry Gunner, Aaron Bastian and Thomas Jordan to place fourth with a time of 43.35.
The Colonels had three runners get into the scoring column in the men's 5k. Andrew Edwards led the way with a time of 15:45.78 to finish in third, with David McGrade and Matthew Gray also finishing in the top seven.
In hurdles, Centre had a pair of scorers in each race. Thomas Jordan scored in both races, finishing fourth in the 110m and sixth in the 400m. The best finish for the Colonels in either race came from freshman Pete Shipley, who placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.06.
Senior Keenan Jones had an excellent showing in the 3000m steeplechase as the defending conference champion in the event finished second with a time of 9:55.24.
The jumping events saw the Colonels rack up multiple scoring marks. In the triple jump, Aaron Bastian finished second overall with a mark of 43-6. Another runner-up finish came in the pole vault as Thomas Burkey cleared 11-11.75. In the high jump, Burkey and Patrick Gago each cleared 5-10 to tie for sixth place. In the long jump, Mykal Bright had the best day for the Colonels, finishing sixth with a mark of 20-11-25.
The best event of the day for the Centre men was the shot put as four Colonels landed in the top eight overall. Allen Richardson won the event with a mark of 46-11.75, with Hunter Gann, Bryce Whitman and Braden Tabor also getting into the scoring column. In the discus, Whitman finished third overall with a throw of 137-7. Gann led three scoring efforts for Centre in the hammer, finishing third overall with a mark of 160-4.

Centre track and field will compete in the Kentucky Relays at the University of Kentucky next week for their final meet before the conference championship.
