DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre baseball team played its final conference home game of the season as they hosted Birmingham Southern in the rubber match of their weekend series. The Colonels fell to the Panthers by a score of 15-3.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers batted around in the opening inning, scoring six runs on four hits before the Colonels got their first opportunity to step to the plate.
- In the bottom of the first, Centre loaded the bases after
Will Kirk singled,
Jake Holloway walked and
Jordan Gunter singled.
Mason Falbo drove in a pair of runs with a base hit to left field and after
Chris Esselman walked,
Patrick Hope's single scored Gunter and cut the Panthers' lead in half.
- BSC pitcher Andy Hammond settled down after the first inning, allowing just two baserunners the rest of the way. Meanwhile, the Panthers' offense continued to add to their lead, scoring nine more runs to put the game away.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kirk and Hope each finished with a game high two hits for the Colonels.
- BSC shortstop Alfredo Grenier went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and tied leadoff hitter Cole Steadman with a game high 3 RBI.
