Centre men finish third at DePauw Invitational

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Fresh off an impressive victory in last week's home meet, the Centre men's track and field headed to DePauw University for the third time this season. This time, at the DePauw Invitational and competing with a partial squad, the Colonels finished in third place with 92 points.

Starting things off in relays, the team of Henry Gunner, Jake Pfaller, Tanner May and Thomas Jordan finished fifth in the 4x100m with a time of 43.83. In the 4x400m, Gunner and Pfaller teamed with Pete Shipley and Thomas Burkey to finish second in 3:28.96. May also finished fourth in the 100m with a time of 11.45.

The Colonels had a pair of scorers in the 1500m as senior Keenan Jones finished fifth in 4:09.84, followed by sophomore Andrew Edwards in eighth in 4:17.59.

The hurdling events have been a strong category for the Centre men and today's meet was no exception, with three scorers in both races. Thomas Burkey finished first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.49 and third in the 110m hurdles. Henry Gunner posted second place finishes in each of the hurdling events.

In the jumping events, the best finish for the Colonels came in the long jump, where freshman Mykal Bright took second place with a mark of 21-7.50. In the triple jump, freshman Aaron Bastian placed third overall with a mark of 43-10.5. Patrick Gago and Henry Gunner posted respective seventh and eighth place finishes in the high jump, while Thomas Burkey placed sixth in the pole vault with a clear of 11-7.75.

The best finish for the Centre men in the throwing events happened in the shot put as sophomore Allen Richardson, who finished fourth overall with a throw of 46-5.25. Senior Bryce Whitman scored in two events for the Colonels, placing fifth in the discus with a mark of 135-3 and seventh in the hammer with a mark of 143-5.
