Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's tennis made quick work of visiting Covenant Saturday morning, winning by a 9-0 score inside the Indoor Tennis Center.
The Colonels improve to 2-0 overall with the spring-opening victory, sweeping the Scots (1-1) for the second season in a row.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre took control by winning all three doubles matches, including a narrow 8-7 victory at No. 1 for
Caroline Stallings and
Lainey Hill over Covenant's Esther Eddy and Madalyn Savage.
- The next two courts both went 8-2 in favor of the Colonels.
Hannah Doherty and rookie
Ella Rueff defeated Mariah Westra and Nikki Restrepo at No. 2, while
Katharine Sherman and
Grace Headley topped Laney Beckwith and Gillian Bosko at No. 3.
- The Colonels dominated the Scots in singles, dropping only nine games across all six courts combined.
- Sherman started the spring off with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Eddy at No. 1, and Stallings similarly defeated Restrepo, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.
- Doherty continued the trend with a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Bosko at No. 3 singles, and the freshman Hill took care of Savage at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0 for her first collegiate singles win.
- Rueff claimed her first victory of the spring with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Justine Block at No. 5, and
Caroline Lancaster completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 rout against Beckwith at No. 6 singles.
