Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's tennis fell by a 6-1 score Sunday afternoon against the University of the Cumberlands at the Indoor Tennis Courts, suffering their first loss of the spring season.
The loss moves the Colonels to 2-1 overall, while the Patriots – ranked No. 17 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) – improve to 2-2.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The two sides played by Division I rules, which awards one doubles point in a best-of-three format. Centre claimed two of the three doubles matches, leading to an early 1-0 overall advantage.

Hannah Doherty and
Ella Rueff edged out Tessa Grey and Satsuki Mitani, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles

Katharine Sherman and
Grace Headley likewise won their second in as many days, defeating Hana Shimeno and Grace Steely, 8-5.
- The Patriots would claim all six singles matches to secure the win.
- At No. 1, Sherman narrowly fell 7-5, 7-5 to the NAIA's fifth-ranked singles player, Tomomi Nagao.
- Doherty rallied after dropping the first set of No. 3 singles against Jaclyn Jewell, 6-0, winning the second set 6-4 to force a tiebreak. Jewell would claim the third set tiebreak, 10-3.
