Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's tennis fell 8-1 to No. 34 Sewanee Saturday afternoon at home, competing in their first Southern Athletic Association match of the season.
The Colonels fall to 2-8 overall (0-1 SAA), while the visiting Tigers leave with a 4-1 (1-0) mark.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre sophomore
Katharine Sherman's 7-6, 6-2 victory over Sewanee's Catherine Owen proved to be the Colonels' lone point, but was significant for Sherman. Owen entered as the nation's 46th ranked singles player and is the SAA's reigning Player of the Year.
- Sewanee claimed all three doubles matches to gain control, with the closest being at No. 2 where Emma Smith and Taylor Sprouse defeated
Lainey Hill and
Caroline Stallings, 8-5.
