COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) selected its All-American teams for the 2019-20 season. Due to the cancellation of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the CSCAA Board adjusted the selection criteria for each division. This year's selections include four swimmers from Centre College.
This year's CSCAA All-Americans representing the Colonels are
Amelia Blankenbeker,
Elise Burch,
Chloe Grove and
Annie Holmes.
"Despite the cancellation of the NCAA Championships, Coach (Dean) Brownley did a remarkable job this season," explained Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA. These four student-athletes had the rug pulled out from them this season, so we are excited to recognize them."
In the last event of the 2020 Southern Athletic Association Championships, the team of Blankenbeker, Burch, Grove and Holmes had the swim of a collective lifetime in the 4x100 freestyle relay as they posted a time of 3:27.42, not only setting new program and conference championship records, but also earning an invite to the NCAA Championships, which were scheduled for March 18-21. The event capped off brilliant careers for Blankenbeker, Grove and Holmes, all of whom scored over 1,500 career points in their four years with the Colonels, with Blankenbeker leaving as the school's all-time leading scorer.
