MONTEAGLE, Tenn. – The Centre swim teams began conference play with a head to head matchup against the Sewanee Tigers. The Colonels came away with the split as the men's team won 163-101, while the women's team fell 185-115.
On the women's side, the Colonels got their first win of the meet in the 100 fly as
Callie West recorded the only sub-minute time, taking first with a time of 58.82.
It was the first of four victories on the night for West, who had the meet of her young career. She also won the 50 freestyle in 25.35, the 100 freestyle in 54.74, and then teamed with sophomores
Kelsey Jenks.
Meredith Walker and
Greer Manger in the finale to win the 4x100 freestyle relay in 3:45.41.
Junior
Audrey Becker also won multiple events for the Centre women as she finished first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.11 and the 200 individual medley in 2:17.82.
On the men's side, the Colonels began and ended the meet with relay victories. In the medley relay, the team of
Kai Oddo,
Bryan Killian,
Jackson Fears and
Zolon Knoll won with a time of 3:40.55. In the 400 freestyle relay, rookies Fears and Knoll teamed with
Austen Reid and
Sean Gilpatrick to win with a time of 3:25.61.
The relay winners also performed well as individuals, as Fears won the men's 500 freestyle with a time of 5:04.68. Knoll also picked up an individual win with a first place time of 56.11 in the 100 fly.
Killian continued his mastery of the breaststroke, sweeping both races in tonight's meet. He won the 50 with a time of 28.82 and then followed that up with a winning time of 1:02.86 in the 100 to rack up three wins for the night.
In the 1000 freestyle,
Henry Lang picked up the victory with a time of 10:59.89. The 50 fly saw rookie
Jacob Sanders win with a time of 25.95, earning first place by 0.04 seconds.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Colonels as they head to Berry for a noon meet on Saturday.
