MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – It was a quick turnaround for the Centre swim teams as they hit the road again to face Berry less than 24 hours removed from Friday night's split against Sewanee. The Colonels picked up their second straight split, with the women's team winning 142-138 and the men's team losing 157-115.
On the women's side, the Colonels opened up with a victory in diving as
Savannah Gupton won the 1m competition with a score of 145.72 points.
In the 200 freestyle,
Kelsey Jenks pulled off the victory with a time of 2:03.22, just 0.37 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The Colonels got another win in the next race as
Connor Foster took first place in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.80.
Audrey Becker continued her hot start to her junior season with a pair of event wins. Becker took first place in the 100 fly with a time of 2:15.42 to cruise to a victory, and then followed that up with a winning time of 2:18.60 in the 200 individual medley.
Fresh off a four-win performance last night, rookie
Callie West picked up where she left off in the sprints, winning the 50 freestyle in 24.69. She also won the 100 freestyle in 54.27 and the 100 fly in 58.60 – the only sub-minute time in the field.
Finally, down by three points entering the final race of the meet, West teamed with
Greer Manger,
Claire Pellegrin and
Meredith Walker to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.05 to secure the victory for the Centre women.
The Centre men also began the meet with a diving win as
Sam Feingold finished first on the 1m board, outperforming his seed score with a total of 139.5 points.
In the 100 backstroke,
Kai Oddo earned the victory for the Colonels, posting a time of 55.11 to finish in first place. Later in the meet, he pulled off the sweep in the backstroke as he won the 200 with a time of 2:04.09.
After coming close to a victory in three other races, rookie
Jackson Fears broke through in the 200 fly as he won with a time of 2:01.26.
Bryan Killian just missed out on a sweep in the breaststroke, as the school record holder took first place in the 200 with a time of 2:15.61 after a close second place finish in the 100m
In the final race of the meet, the team of
Zee Oddo,
Henry Lang,
Zolon Knoll and
Nikolai Garding pulled off a tough victory in the 200 freestyle relay as they won by less than half a second, finishing with a time of 1:32.58.

The Centre swim teams will return to action in three weeks as they head to Louisville to swim in a dual meet against Bellarmine and Butler.
