DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's tennis cruised past Birmingham-Southern, 9-0, Saturday in Southern Association play.
The Colonels improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the SAA while the Panthers fall to 6-5 and 1-2 in-conference.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre dropped just seven games across its three doubles matches. The closest contest was at No. 1, where
Lainey Hill and
Ella Rueff defeated Maddi Stewart and Ansley Turley, 8-4. It was the duo's first time playing No. 1 doubles together, and they improved to 2-1 as a tandem overall.

Hannah Doherty and
Caroline Stallings won No. 2 doubles over Alyssa Yager and Jenna Prater, 8-2, and
Caroline Lancaster and
Katharine Sherman paired to defeat Emily Enoch and Sarah Rushing at No. 3, 8-1. Both twosomes were playing together for the first time this season.
- Sherman handled Yager, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, moving to 3-1 this spring.
- Rueff officially clinched the match for Centre with a 6-0, 6-1 rout against Enoch at No. 3 singles, likewise improving to 3-1.
- Hill won No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2 against Turley, going to 3-1 as an individual. Doherty moved to 2-1 in singles this spring after dropping Prater at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1.
- Stallings and Lancaster each gutted out tiebreak victories to remain undefeated in singles play this spring. Stalling defeated Ashton Henderson, 5-7, 6-1, 10-1 at No. 5, and Lancaster won 5-7, 6-1, 10-4 at No. 6 over Rushing.
