MURRAY, Ky. - The Centre men's track & field team was the lone Division III team in the field this weekend at the Margaret Simmons Invitational at Murray State University. Competing against the most stacked field of the season thus far, consisting mostly of Division I schools, the Colonels finished in 12th place.
The first points of the day for the Colonels came in the 400m. Racing in his first collegiate 400,
JP Vaught finished third overall with a time of 48.35. Vaught was also a member of two scoring relay squads for the Centre men. In the 4x100, Vaught teamed with
Gray Rahbany,
Thomas Jordan and
Tanner May to place fifth overall with a time of 42.29. In the 4x400, the team of Vaught, Rahbany, May and
Jeremy Olliges finished fourth overall with a time of 3:24.01.
In the triple jump,
Jake Pfaller finished in seventh place with a mark of 43-2.25. He also placed in the top 15 in both hurdling events.
Allen Richardson continued his strong season in the shot put, finishing fifth overall with a throw of 48-0 to round out the scoring performances for the day for the Centre men.
In addition, there were multiple personal best marks set on Saturday, including Rahbany in the 200,
Grant Griffith in the 400,
Pete Shipley in the 110m hurdles,
Drake Nunnery in the high jump and
Braden Tabor in the hammer.
Will Perkins and
Malcolm Stewart had their best days as collegiate throwers, setting personal records in three separate events each.
Much like the women's team, the middle distances races saw a slew of personal best marks for the Colonels on the men's side, 18 in total. In the 800,
Noel Dingle had the top time for the Colonels, finishing in 2:01.58.
Ben Camuel led the way for Centre in the 1500m with a time of 4:09.07.
