MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Centre women's golf closed action at the MCC Women's Intercollegiate Monday, played at the Montgomery Country Club.
Recently ranked No. 3 in the latest Golfstat and Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Polls, the Colonels finished in third after a 305 combined in round two.
Rylee Suttor led Centre and tied for third overall, shooting a 145 (71-74). She began Monday's round with three consecutive birdies and finished the event with 10 total birdies - most in the field.
Margaret Butts came in 12th with a 152 (75-77), and
Bailey Plourde followed right behind with a 153 (76-77) that placed her in a tie for 13th.
Meaghan Grant shot a 79 Monday to finish with a 154, and
Abby Ligons improved her score to a 77 to follow at 156. Both finished in the top 20 individually. Grant was among the leaders with 23 pars throughout the tournament.
Centre led all teams with 29 birdies during the two rounds.
SUNDAY RECAP
Centre sits in second place after shooting a 297 as a team. That mark is second-lowest in team history for a single round, surpassed only by the 2019 first round at the MCC Intercollegiate when the Colonels fired a 294.
Rylee Suttor paced the Colonels with a one-under 71 that featured six birdies. She is second among 50 individuals through 18 holes.
Margaret Butts and
Meaghan Grant each shot a 75, both carding a birdie while setting career lows. They are tied for seventh.
Also in the top 10 after Sunday is
Bailey Plourde, who shot a 76 with a pair of birdies.
Abby Ligons shot a 79 to round out Centre's scoring.
