ATLANTA – Centre women's tennis had five individuals listed on the Southern Athletic Association all-conference teams, announced Wednesday.
Katharine Sherman and
Ella Rueff were named to the All-SAA First Team, while
Caroline Stallings,
Lainey Hill and
Hannah Doherty were selected to the Second Team. Centre matched Millsaps with the most honorees overall.
Sherman's All-SAA First Team nod is the second of her career, as the 2019 SAA Newcomer of the Year put together a strong junior season atop Centre's singles lineup. She went 5-1 against SAA competition at No. 1 singles, winning seven matches overall as an individual. Sherman led the team with 10 doubles wins this spring, as well, matching her singles record by going 5-1 in SAA matches.
Rueff's All-SAA First Team selection is the first of her career (no awards were given out in 2020). She was 6-5 overall in singles action, including 3-2 in regular season conference matches. In doubles, she went 9-6 overall and 5-1 against SAA opposition. In the SAA Tournament, Rueff delivered two points in Centre's semifinal victory against Berry.
Stallings capped her career with her second All-SAA award, finishing with a 9-6 singles record, including a 5-1 mark during the SAA regular season. In doubles, she went 8-4 overall, primarily pairing with Doherty to go 4-2 as a duo. She delivered the match-clinching point with her singles win against Berry in the SAA semifinals.
Hill's All-SAA Second Team honor is the first year-end award of her career. She excelled in doubles action, where she went 7-4 overall, including a 5-3 mark at No. 1.
Doherty garnered her second All-SAA recognition, going 7-4 in singles overall and 5-1 during SAA regular season matches. She was among the team leaders with a 9-5 doubles mark.
