EAST LANSING, Mich. – Centre women's golf battled through chilly, windy conditions in Tuesday's opening round at the NCAA Division III Championships, played at the Forest Akers West Golf Course.
After an overnight frost pushed back start times by more than an hour, the fifth-ranked Colonels shot a 325 as a team. Carnegie Mellon leads all teams currently in the clubhouse with 312, although several squads are still on the course.
Rylee Suttor led the Colonels with a five-over 77, sitting inside the top 10 as an individual.
Abby Ligons followed with an 81, while
Meaghan Grant (82) and
Bailey Plourde (85) were just behind to complete Centre's counted scores.
Margaret Butts shot an 87 to round out the lineup.
As a team, the Colonels carded seven birdies and 45 pars.
Centre returns to action at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday for the second of four scheduled rounds.
