NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's tennis began the 2021-22 calendar with a 6-3 victory against Transylvania Wednesday evening, competing at the Top Seed Tennis Club.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre claimed a 2-1 advantage after doubles action.
Ella Rueff and
Hannah Doherty combined to defeat Porsche Robinson and Jessica Burton at No. 1, 8-5.
- After the Pioneers won doubles No. 2,
Maddy Trinh and
Lainey Hill secured an 8-4 victory over Christina Duvall and Alyssa Igyarto to give Centre the edge.
- The Colonels won the on the first three courts in singles play, beginning at No. 3 where Doherty handed Burton a 6-4, 6-0 defeat.

Katharine Sherman dropped Robinson in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Rueff followed with the match-clinching 6-4, 6-1 win against Sheila Cetina at No. 2.
- Hill tallied Centre's final point in a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Igyarto at No. 6 singles.
