GRANVILLE, Ohio – Centre women's tennis took on a trio of opponents at the Denison Invitational this past weekend, played at the Denison Tennis Courts.
The Colonels defeated Otterbein, 8-1, before falling by the same score against No. 12 Denison and No. 15 Case Western Reserve.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre swept all six singles matches when competing against the Cardinals.
Katharine Sherman began with a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles against Erin Storrer.
Ella Rueff followed at No. 2 with a come-from-behind 0-6, 7-6, 10-5 win over Lillia Walter.
- At No. 3 singles,
Hannah Doherty defeated Emma Henson, 7-5, 6-1, while
Caroline Lancaster won No. 4, 6-2, 6-4 against Madi Mueller.

Maddy Trinh dropped only four games in a 6-3, 6-1 win against Rachelle Moses at No. 5, and
Lainey Hill did the same in a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Cassady Shough at No. 6 singles.
- Centre claimed two of three doubles matches against Otterbein. Hill and Rueff paired to defeat Mueller and Walter, 8-2, at No. 2, while Trinh and Lancaster won 8-3 over Moses and Julia Gillin at No. 3.
- The Trinh/Lancaster duo also won No. 3 doubles when the Colonels took on the nationally-ranked Big Red, defeating Hannah Bradvica and Kendall Schrader, 8-4.
- Sherman and Doherty took Sarah Robertson and Sydney Cianciola to a tiebreak at No. 1 doubles, but ultimately fell, 8-7. Doherty also went three sets in singles play against Monique Brual before suffering a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 loss.
- Against Case, Sherman and Doherty came away with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles over Savannah Bright and Pallavi Goculdas.
