ROME, Ga. – Centre men's tennis completed their first action of the 2021-22 season this weekend, competing in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships.
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS
- Rookie
Jasper Gazzo won his "Main" Singles draw against EJ Stolmeijer of Methodist, rallying back from an opening set loss to force a third set, where Stolmeijer retired.

Faraz Ghamgosar,
Ashton Whitt and
Emerson Dean also represented Centre in the primary singles bracket. Whitt won one consolation match against Oglethorpe's Ameya Dani.

Matthew Bulow,
Newcomb Maddux,
Brian Graves, Ian Cowen and
Jett Anderson competed in the various "B" Singles draws.
- The rookie Anderson turned in a strong weekend, claiming four matches to win his bracket. He defeated Colin Drawdy of Piedmont, 6-0, 6-0, in the opening round before topping Berry's Bohdan Higley, 6-0, 6-2. He then dropped Birmingham-Southern's Reed Martinson, 6-2, 6-1, and won the draw in a 6-3, 6-0 win against Belhaven's Matthew Ridden.
- Bulow rebounded from his first round loss to win his consolation bracket. He defeated Carsten Balao of Berry, 6-2, 6-4, before gutting out a 7-6(5), 7-5 win against Methodist's Quinn McNamara in the finale.
- Maddux won his first round match against Belhaven's Bryce Livingston, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
- Gazzo and
Bo Bush paired up to compete in the Main Doubles draw, as did Whitt and Ghamgosar. Gazzo and Bush turned in an 8-4 consolation win against Henry Murray and Luke Laney of Methodist.
- Bulow and
Danny Nelson competed in "B" Doubles, defeating BSC's John Andres and Luke Mitchell, 8-2.
- Dean and Anderson also won a B Doubles contest, topping BSC's Elijah Ingleson and Hallet Green, 8-3.
