ATLANTA – The Centre swim teams began a season home stretch of five meets in 14 days on Saturday morning as they traveled to Georgia to face the nationally ranked Emory Eagles. The Colonels fell to the Eagles, 165-91 on the women's side and 161-85 on the men's side.
On the women's side, rookie
Callie West continued her strong opening campaign with a pair of podium finishes as she posted times of 59.03 in the 100 fly and 54.41 in the 100 free.
In the 200 backstroke, rookie
Sarah Albrecht picked up nine points for the Centre women with a time of 2:22.19. Senior
Savannah Gupton earned nine more points for the Colonels with a time of 5:44.55 in the 500 free.
Nine more points for the Centre women came in the 200 breaststroke as senior
Maddie Hall posted a time of 2:42.06.
On the men's side,
Kai Oddo had an impressive swim in the 50 free, clocking in at 21.86 to take third place overall. He also earned nine points for the Colonels in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.21.
In the 500 free,
Henry Lang picked up nine points with a time of 5:06.60.
Bryan Killian added to Centre's point total as he scored nine with a time of 2:17.80 in the 200 breaststroke.
Finally, both teams earned 11 points in the 200 freestyle relay. On the women's side, West and Gupton teamed with
Peyton Patel and
Audrey Becker to finish with a time of 1:44.05. On the men's side, Oddo and Lang teamed with rookies
Jackson Fears and
Zolon Knoll to post a time of 1:29.71.

The Colonels will return to the pool on Jan. 21 as they head up the road to face Transylvania in a Friday night matchup.
