LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a loss to nationally ranked Emory last week, the Centre swim teams bounced back in a big way in Friday night's rivalry matchup with Transylvania. The Colonels defeated the Pioneers in a clean sweep, with scores of 160-74 on the men's side and 134-89 on the women's side.
The first win of the day for the Colonels came in the men's 200 medley relay as the team of
Kai Oddo,
Bryan Killian,
Zolon Knoll and
Ben Webster posted a time of 1:40.99 to win by more than two seconds.
Oddo and Killian also enjoyed individual success in the meet. Oddo was a double winner as an individual, sweeping the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with winning times of 21.55 and 47.33. His 100 freestyle time won by over three full seconds. Killian once again dominated the 100 breaststroke, winning with a time of 1:01.53.
Freshman
Jackson Fears was another double event winner as he took a narrow victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.21, and then followed that up with a time of 53.54 to win the 100 fly.
The Colonels had yet another double event winner on the men's side as
Sean Gilpatrick continued his strong senior campaign, posting winning times of 2:07.01 in the 200 IM and 57.37 in the 100 backstroke.
In diving,
Kaden Gervacio returned to the board after finishing up football season in the fall and swept both competitions for the Colonels, scoring 200.85 points on the 1m board and 206.55 points on the 3m.
The last individual event win for the Centre men came in the 500 freestyle, where
Henry Lang won with a time of 4:57.05, the only sub-5:00 time in the field. Lang then teamed with Fears, Gilpatrick and
Zee Oddo to win the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.49.
On the women's side, the first victory for Centre belonged to
Greer Manger, who won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.63. It was the first of two individual wins for Manger, who also won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:28.94, winning by nearly eight seconds.
Rookie
Callie West continued her domination of the sprint, winning the 50 freestyle in 24.66, nearly a full second faster than the second place finisher. West also took first place in the 100 backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:00.70.
In the 200 IM,
Audrey Becker picked up the victory for the Colonels with a time of 2:19.48.
Senior co-captain
Connor Foster earned the next win for the Centre women with a time of 1:01.13 in the 100 fly.
In the 100 freestyle, All-American
Elise Burch took first place by a slim margin, finishing with a time of 56.42.
Finally, in the 200 freestyle relay, the team of Burch, Manger, West and
Peyton Patel pulled away at the end to take the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.07.

The Colonels will have a short turnaround as they will return home to honor their seniors on Saturday at noon with a matchup against West Virginia Tech.
