DANVILLE, Ky. – It was a quick turnaround for the Centre swim teams from last night's win at Transylvania, as they returned home and honored their seniors with a matchup against West Virginia Tech. The Colonels picked up their second consecutive sweep, with the men's team winning 141-74, the women's team winning 162-19, and the seniors taking home multiple event victories.
On the women's side, the all-senior medley relay squad of
Peyton Patel,
Maddie Hall,
Connor Foster and
Savannah Gupton earned the first victory of the day as they finished with a time of 4:22.68. Three of the four relay swimmers would earn individual event wins as well, as Patel won the 100 freestyle in 57.93, Hall won the 200 breaststroke in 2:36.51, and Foster won the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.60.
In the mile freestyle,
Greer Manger picked up a victory in the marathon race with a time of 19:29.40.
Coming off a slew of wins at Transylvania on Friday, rookie
Callie West added another victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.06, the only time in the race under two minutes
The 50 freestyle saw the top six times all belong to Centre swimmers, with
Kelsey Jenks taking the win in 26.60. Jenks earned another victory in the 500 freestyle, winning in a time of 5:33.93.
Reigning conference champion
Audrey Becker earned another victory in one of her signature events, the 200 fly, finishing first with a time of 2:14.63.
In the 200 backstroke, rookie
Sarah Albrecht picked up the win with a time of 2:19.81.
Finally, the Centre women made history in the last event of the day as
Elise Burch teamed with Manger, Patel and West to set a new Boles Natatorium record in the 400 freestyle relay as they posted a time of 3:39.00.
On the men's side, the Colonels won the first relay swim of the meet as the team of
Kai Oddo,
Bryan Killian,
Jackson Fears and
Henry Lang won the medley relay squad in 3:34.20.
The relay win set the tone for all four swimmers. Oddo and Fears each won multiple events as individuals, with Oddo taking first in the 50 freestyle (21.80) and 200 backstroke (2:03.21), and Fears winning the 200 IM (2:02.63) and 200 fly (1:59.92).
Killian and Lang each picked up wins in their signature events as well. Killian took first place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:14.22, while Lang won the 500 freestyle in 4:58.20.
In diving, the Colonels scored all the available points in the 1m competition, with
Kaden Gervacio leading the way with 194.35 points.
The final event of the day saw the team of
Ben Webster,
Zolon Knoll,
Zee Oddo and
Sean Gilpatrick take first place in the 400 freestyle relay with a combined time of 3:29.73.
