SPRINGFIELD, Ohio. – After sweeping both Berry and Asbury on Saturday, the Centre swimming & Diving teams took a trip up north to compete against Wittenberg in Ohio. The Colonels competed in a second-straight day of swimming to simulate multi-day championship meets soon, now less than two weeks out of the highly competitive Wabash Invitational.
The Gold and White had several exciting swims in the dual meet, including the meet's first event. The women's 200 free relay was a close battle, first through third place being the difference of .97 seconds. The winning squad consisted of Emma Daman,
Greer Manger, Samantha Coffey and Rebecca Morgan.
Both the men and the women had thrilling performances in the 200 free, the women's event being decided by less than a second in in the first three finishers while the men's was only a gap of a second and a half. Henley Mason emerged as the victor on the women's side with a 10-second time drop of 2:02.05, while Carter Dilger from the men's team lowered his season-best time in his 1:51.01 finish.
Diving continued to build upon their strong opening to the year, Haley Rice winning the women's one-meter board with her highest point total so far this season. Rice tallied a 216.7 final score to inch closer to the regional qualifying standard, while Brandon Anderson hit a new best total of 296 points for the men in his event win. Anderson would later step on the three-meter board for the first time in the season, compiling 249.9 points in the event.
Now having experienced consecutive competition days for two weekends so far this season, the Colonels will look to put the finishing touches on their preparation for the Wabash Invitational in two weeks and the Colonel Classic in January. Before that, the two teams will travel up north to Indiana to take on Franklin and Bluffton in a duel meet on Saturday, Nov. 12. That meet will kick off at 12 p.m. ET.
