Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Centre baseball team played the first of four games this week at Admiral Fetterman Field at Community Maritime Park, home of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. The Colonels fell to the Carroll Pioneers by a score of 8-7.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when Carroll plated a pair of runs.
- Centre immediately responded in the top half of the inning as
Braden Wilson led off with a single and eventually scored after an RBI triple by
Luc Morgan.
Mark Pyburn then tied the game with a sacrifice fly that scored Morgan.
- In the sixth, Centre's bats came alive for four runs.
Jordan Gunter and
Josh Cunningham led off with consecutive doubles to give the Colonels the lead.
Patrick Hope and
Perry Nadreau then singled to bring home Cunningham. A sac fly by
Jamie Laframboise gave the Colonels their third run of the inning, and then Nadreau scored on a passed ball to cap off the rally and put Centre up 6-2.
- Carroll scored two runs in their half of the sixth on two Centre errors, then added four more runs - three unearned - in the seventh to go back up on top 8-6.
- In the ninth, Morgan led off with a walk and advanced to third on a base hit by Pyburn. A sacrifice fly by
Karson Thompson cut the deficit in half, but the Centre hitters failed to advance Pyburn beyond first.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels finished with ten hits on the day, with Gunter, Cunningham and Morgan each leading the way with two. Seven different players recorded hits for Centre.

Jess Miller allowed just three earned runs in 5.2 innings of work, striking out five Carroll hitters.
