DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre baseball team wrapped up its series against no. 3 Birmingham-Southern with a doubleheader on Sunday. The Colonels continued to swing hot bats from Saturday's contest, but had no answer for the potent BSC lineup, losing by scores of 14-10 and 12-4.
Game 1: BSC 14, Centre 10
- An error on the first at-bat of the game was the start of a big first inning, who scored four runs to take an early lead in the opening frame.
- The Colonels had one of their best innings of the year in the second, sending a dozen batters to the plate. Centre quickly loaded the bases on singles by
Patrick Hope and
Karson Thompson, and a walk to
Braden Wilson. A single by Jamie LaFramboise drove in the first runs of the game for the Colonels. With the bases loaded again, Centre scored as
Jordan Gunter reached on an error.
Josh Cunningham legged out an infield hit to tie the score, and then Hope delivered his second hit off the inning to cap off a six-run second.
- In Centre's half of the third, Wilson led off with a double and advanced to third after a single by LaFramboise. An error by the catcher plated a run for the Colonels and put them up 7-4.
- BSC chipped away at the lead with an unearned run in the fourth and another in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-6.

Will Kempf led off the Centre sixth inning by reaching on an error and stealing second. Gunter lined a double down the right field line to to put the Colonels up by two.
Mark Pyburn then poked one through the infield to give Centre a 9-6 lead. The Colonels plated their third run of the inning on a base hit by Hope and went up 10-6.
- The Panthers cut the deficit in half in the seventh and then exploded for five runs in the eighth. They tacked on a solo homer in the top of the ninth to provide the final margin.
Game 2: BSC 12, Centre 4
- The Panthers again took the early lead on a two-run homer on the second at-bat of the game.
- Centre put runners at second and third in their half of the first after a walk by Pyburn and a double down the line by Cunningham. Hope went the opposite way with a single to tie the game, driving in his fourth and fifth runs of the doubleheader.
- The BSC offense came alive over the next two innings, scoring seven runs on six hits and three errors to take a 9-2 lead.

Karson Thompson gave the offense a lift with a solo homer over the big wall in left field in the fourth inning, and then repeated the feat in the sixth, but that was as close as the Colonels got as the Panthers added three in the seventh to finish off the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORES
- The Sunday doubleheader featured a combined 14 errors, nine by the Colonels. Centre's six errors in the opening game were a season high.
- Hope and Wilson tied for a game high three hits in game 1. Hope finished with five RBIs for the doubleheader.
- Thompson's two solo homers were his first two long balls of the season.
