MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After taking down Millsaps in the 2022 Southern Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, the fourth-seeded Centre women's tennis team (12-11, 4-3 SAA) took on first-seeded Sewanee in one of the semifinal matches on Saturday. The Tigers bested the Colonels to advance to the conference championship on a final score of 5-0.
Centre couldn't find a win in the doubles series,
Caroline Lancaster and
Maddy Trinh putting up the closest fight as the team's No. 3 with the final score of 8-4. The final two series had similar scores, both 8-2 results were commanded by
Katharine Sherman and
Hannah Doherty as the No. 1 and
Ella Rueff plus
Lainey Hill at the No. 2 spot of the roster.
With only two points needed to advance to the final round of the SAA Tournament, Sewanee only needed two singles wins to take down the Gold and White.
