Colonels beat Warriors in sweep

Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – In their third-consecutive SAA contest on Saturday afternoon, the Centre women's tennis team (10-8, 3-1 SAA) kicked off their four-game road trip down south at Hendrix. The Colonels found their mark and extended their win streak to four, taking down the Warriors in a 7-0 sweep.
 
The Gold and White ran high during the doubles matches for the first portion of the contest, Maddy Trinh and Caroline Lancaster running a perfect 8-0 score in the No. 3 series of the lineup. Katharine Sherman and Hannah Doherty also were strong in their series, Centre's No. 1 doubles team coming away with an 8-2 victory. Ella Rueff and Lainey Hill were the final series to complete, the No. 2 doubles team for the Colonels also pulling away with a victory on a final score of 8-5.
 
The singles matches commenced until Centre reached seven team points in the contest, leaving two series unfinished on Saturday afternoon. Grace Headley came into the lineup as the team's No. 6 and performed one of the most dominant singles series of the day, winning 6-0, 6-1. Hill would match in her own victory on a 6-0, 6-1 score, the team's point coming from the No. 3 series. Lancaster moved to a personal record of 12-5 on the season in singles after her win on Saturday, besting her No. 5 opponent on a final score of 6-1, 6-1. Doherty was the final series to finish before the two teams ended the day, working a 6-3, 6-1 final score for the team's final point in the No. 2 series. Trinh was one of the two series to not finish, that score in the No. 4 series being 6-1, 4-2 in Centre's favor and the other series being Rueff at the No. 1 slot on a 6-4, 0-1 score.
 
The Colonels won't have long to prepare before they compete in their next contest, the Gold and White taking on the Rhodes Lynx on Sunday, April 10 at 11 a.m. That match will be the second of their four-game road trip, the contest out in Memphis, Tenn.
