SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Centre men's track & field team began the 2024 season with an early meet as they competed with a partial squad at the Tiger Opener at Wittenberg. The event was not scored, but despite the distance runners resting up from cross country season, the Colonels still turned in impressive performances in the season opener against a field of teams from all divisions.
In the men's 400m, senior
Jeremy Olliges came within a split second of equaling his program record as he clocked in at 50.44 to finish seventh overall. A rare 300m race saw senior
Gray Rahbany finish third overall, second among D3 runners in the field with a time of 36.38 to set a new school record in the event.
Freshman Beau Brown made a promising debut for the Colonels in the 60m as he recorded a time of 6.98 to finish fifth overall. He followed that up with a win in the 200m as he posted a time of 21.97.
The Colonels had a good season debut in the jumping events. Junior Phillipe N'Dia picked up an event win for the Centre men in the triple jump as he posted a mark of 44-8 to take first place in the triple jump. Two-time All-American
Logan Isaacs earned a victory in the pole vault with a clear of 15-7 In the high jump, Southern Athletic Association champion
Michael Smith had a nice opener to his sophomore season as he cleared 6-0 to tie for fifth overall. Senior decathlete
Nick Whitlow had an impressive long jump as he posted a mark of 21-4.75 to take fourth place.
